Some people may not want to go on the frontpage because it has been known to overload the server and use big bandwidth amounts, whereas some would like the traffic.

Catchy titles are a must for your articles. If your title doesn’t sound exciting, then people won’t be interested enough to read it. Overemphasize them as much as possible to get more visitors.

Another very important point is that you need a good layout to your articles. Try to make the layout as interesting as possible - Maybe use bullet points, images, numbering. Use features that make it stand out.

Something that you could do (Although not recommended) is something to kick-start your articles. Get a few friends to Digg one of your articles to give it the boost it needs.
